Bridgend Council’s Cabinet is set to approve establishing a “shadow” governing body ahead of the merger of Afon-y-Felin and Corneli primary schools in North Cornelly (pdf).

The two English-medium primary schools will officially merge in September 2027.

Until the new single-site school at Plas Morlais is completed (it’s unclear when), the school will run across the two current sites.

The shadow governing body will be responsible for appointing the new (merged) school’s headteacher, the new school’s staffing structure, setting the new school’s policies (uniform, curriculum, name, finances) and transition arrangements.
