Bridgend Council’s Cabinet is set to approve work on a 3G sports pitch at Porthcawl Comprehensive School (pdf).

The project is set to be funded via a £392,000 grant from the Cymru Football Foundation and Sport Wales, meaning the council or school won’t have to contribute anything to the up-front costs.

While the pitch would be used by the school for PE lessons, it would be available for hire. The school will keep any income raised – though some of the income will be ring-fenced by BCBC for future resurfacing costs.

The project is pretty much identical to a recently completed sports pitch at Bryntirion Comprehensive in Bridgend, which has been used as a test case for this model of delivering new sports facilities.

Donations Welcome
