A former town centre “eyesore” could be turned into a small urban park/garden under recently submitted to Bridgend Council.

The former Ranch chip shop & Welcome to Town pub at Nolton Street in Bridgend town centre was demolished earlier this year.

It came after a years-long battle with the site’s owners to address the “eyesore” it had become following a fire in 2020.

When the demolition notice was submitted, the original plans for the site included a cafe/bar.

In the last few weeks, the Hegarty family/HD Limited put forward plans for a small landscaped public space instead (pictured above) provisionally titled “Nolton Gardens”.

The main feature would be a central “Autumn Blaze” maple tree, which turns a bright red in the autumn.

A gated 3-space mini car park would also be provided on Free School Court.
