A demolition notice was recently submitted for the former Ranch chip shop and former Welcome to Town pub on Nolton Street. The work is set to be undertaken by contractors working on behalf of HD Ltd.

The Ranch was destroyed in a fire in 2020 and has remained an unsafe derelict site ever since.

Meanwhile, the Welcome to Town has been closed for decades, with attempts at renovating or reopening it never going anywhere.

HD Ltd’s provisional plans for the site – titled “Nolton Gardens” (above) – include a restaurant/bar with a landscaped outdoor terrace.

If the council accepts the application, work is expected to be completed by November 2023.
