Llanmoor Homes has submitted a planning application for a social housing development at City Farm to the south of Bettws.
Llanmoor submitted an application for up to 40 homes at the site in 2022, which was turned down by Bridgend Council’s planning officers in October 2023. Officers had concerns that it would encroach on the surrounding countryside.
In the supporting statement, Llanmoor believes the new application addresses issues raised by the previous one. This is because the homes would be built closer to existing buildings in Bettws, limiting their impact on the countryside.
Although the land hasn’t been included for housing in the Local Development Plan (LDP), Llanmoor justifies the application because it lies within the existing settlement boundary of Bettws in the LDP.
The proposed development would have 23 social homes in total, which would be built in partnership with an unnamed social landlord/housing association. This would consist of 1 four-bed house, 5 three-bed houses, 8 two-bed houses and 8 one-bed apartments.
An attenuation/drainage pond would be built to the west of the development, accessed via a gated-off gravel lane.
A separate application has been submitted for a temporary construction compound.
