Bridgend Council’s Cabinet is to be updated on the UK Government’s “Pride in Place” programme (pdf).
Bridgend Council has been allocated £3 million for the 2025-26 and 2026-27 financial years.
The fund can be used on local projects to help revive high streets or improve an area’s potential. This could include improving shop fronts, renovating community facilities or updating public spaces.
There are no limits on where money can be spent in a given local authority area.
Officers have decided to split the fund into two separate programmes:
- Strategic Town Centre Investment – The aim is to buy and redevelop assets in town centres for small businesses or residential use. Funding could also be used to provide grants to larger projects or to improve green spaces/environmental enhancements.
- Community Infrastructure Fund – There would be two strands. The first would cover community projects worth between £25,000 and £300,000; the second would be a ring-fenced £100,000 to fund projects worth up to a maximum of £25,000.
Any money not spent by 31st March 2027 would have to be returned to the UK Government.
