An outline planning application has been submitted for a major housing development east of Pencoed.
The land forms part of a strategic development site in Bridgend’s Local Development Plan. A public consultation took place towards the end of 2024.
The proposed development includes up to 804 homes. This would comprise 161 one-bed apartments, 162 two-bed apartments, up to 143 two-bed houses, at least 291 three-bed houses and 47 four-bed houses.
The development is split into two separate sites. The access to the first site would be opposite Pencoed Cemetary, while the access to the second site would be between the College roundabout and the Brynna roundabout.
Land will also be set aside close to the Bridgend College roundabout for a new primary school, which would have the capacity for up to 250 pupils. The College’s sports pitches would move to the fields next to the River Ewenny.
This is an outline planning application. So if it’s approved, the developers will need to submit further detailed applications.
