Bridgend Council’s Cabinet is to be provided with a further update on a £20million project to renovate Porthcawl’s Grand Pavilion (pdf).
The project is being mainly funded by the UK Government’s “Levelling Up Fund”. The funding originally came with a strict deadline for work to be completed by Spring 2025.
The report says an informal agreement has been reached with the Levelling Up Fund team for the deadline to be extended until March 2026.
To keep costs under control, the design has been “value engineered”, requiring an updated planning application. Bridgend Council’s Planning Committee is set to decide on that on April 29th – the same day as the Hybont planning application.
Surveys are currently being undertaken ahead of enabling works – which are set to start at the end of May 2024.
