A new contractor has been appointed to deliver the Sunnyside Wellness Village, with work resuming on site earlier this week.
Work on the development paused in 2021 when the previous contractor, WRW, went into administration. The site has remained derelict since.
Abegele-based Wynne Construction won the re-tendered contract, with site clearance starting on Monday (25th March).
The Sunnyside project is being developed in a partnership between Bridgend Council, Cwm Taf Morgannwg health board and the Linc housing association.
The plans include 59 homes and apartments, as well as a new primary care centre for the Bridgend Group Practice and health board. The centre will replace the existing Newcastle and Ashfield surgeries, as well as the existing Quarella Road, Bryntirion and Bryncethin clinics.
The primary care centre is expected to be completed by October 2025, with the homes completed in early 2026.
