First Cymru – the main bus operator in Bridgend County – will be rolling out new capped fares for passengers who use contactless payments from March 31st onwards.
While “tap on, tap off” has already been trialled in Bridgend, it’s being fully rolled out across all First Cymru services.
Those who don’t use contactless payments can still purchase a ticket from the driver. The cash fares for adult single tickets will be fixed at £3, while adult return tickets will be fixed at £5.40 – though this is regardless of distance. This means if your journey is five miles or less, the “tap on, tap off” fare will be cheaper.
Child passengers – and young adults using mytravelpass – have a lower fare cap of £2 for a single journey, though shorter journeys will cost less.

Changes to First Cymru bus services from 1st April
Almost every single First Cymru bus service in Bridgend County will see changes from 1st April onwards, said to “aid punctuality”. The full details are available here.
The only services unaffected by timetable changes are the Cefn Glas circulars (68, 69).
As for new services, First Cymru is taking over the 303 service between Bridgend and Llantwit Major.
A new 64 service will also run between Bridgend and Talbot Green (via Brackla and Pencoed). As a result, the 63 service will now only run between Porthcawl and Bridgend, with no hourly ongoing journeys to Talbot Green.
