New recycling centre opening days – recently approved by Bridgend Council’s Cabinet – will come into effect week commencing Monday (5th February 2024).
Despite a public consultation revealing public opposition, the Cabinet agreed to close each of the county’s three household recycling centres/tips for one weekday each.
The policy is expected to save BCBC £50,000 a year and was included in the 2023-24 council budget.
- Tythegston will close on Tuesdays (presumably, this will apply to Pyle whenever that recycling centre opens).
- Brynmenyn will close on Wednesdays.
- Maesteg will close on Thursdays.
The draft budget for 2024-25 – due to be finalised this month – proposes closing tips for one day over the weekend too.
