Bridgend Council’s Cabinet will discuss consultation responses relating to proposals for a rolling one-day-a-week closure of the county’s three community recycling centres/tips (pdf).
The proposal – included in the 2023-24 budget – is expected to save BCBC £50,000 a year.
Under the plans, the Tythegston site (presumably Pyle in the future) would close on Tuesdays, Maesteg on Wednesdays and Brynmenyn on Thursdays.
56% of those who responded to the consultation opposed the proposal and just over half (50.4%) said the policy would “negatively impact” them.
Just under half of respondents (46.9%) visit tips at least once a month, with 21.8% visiting every six months. Additionally, 14.1% said they visited weekly and 15.4% visited fortnightly.
Brynmenyn (pictured) is the most visited tip (49.4%), with Tythegston the second most visited (41.6%). 9% used Maesteg tip.
