Bridgend Council’s Cabinet is set to approve a public consultation and proposed changes to opening times at the county’s three community recycling centres/”tips” (pdf).

A proposal was included within the recently-approved budget for 2023-24 for tips to close for one weekday a week. This would save BCBC £50,000 a year.

At present, all three sites run seven days a week. The decision was made not to propose closing tips at weekends as these times are busier.

The report suggests that it would work as a rolling closure with only one of the three tips closed on a given weekday. This would help meet the aim of “causing minimal disruption to the public” even if there’s an acceptance that queues could be longer at tips that remain open.
