Several applications have been submitted by McDonald’s for advertising and signage relating to a future drive-thru restaurant at Trews Field Industrial Estate off Tondu Road in Bridgend.
While applications for signs have been submitted to Bridgend Council, there’s no full application for the restaurant itself yet.
The documents show provisional plans and layouts for a drive-thru and car park at the former SJB Car Sales site, which is next door to Booker wholesalers.
The site is around 1km from Bridgend town centre. This is closer than the current McDonald’s drive-thru at Waterton and within reasonable walking distance.
However, as a drive-thru, the plans could run into trouble due to the road layout. Anyone travelling north towards Penyfai needs to cross a 50mph dual carriageway at an unsignalled junction to get onto/out of the industrial estate.
