A new outline planning application and masterplan have been submitted for the redevelopment of the former Revlon/Cosi factory site at Ewenny Road in Maesteg.
The site has been derelict for several years. It’s been shortlisted for £3.5million from the Cardiff City Region to undertake remedial work to allow the land to be brought back into use for housing.
Naturally, housing dominates the revised masterplan. Up to 205 residential units are proposed, being a mix of standard family homes, maisonettes and apartments.
Additionally, the masterplan includes a long-mooted park and ride for Maesteg Ewenny Road railway station – currently the least-used station on the Maesteg line – as well as an enterprise hub and retail space along Oakwood Drive.
Open space would be provided next to the River Llynfi.
As this is an outline application, it would require a full/detailed planning application in the future. So it could still be several years before any construction starts.
