Several public meetings have been scheduled over the next few weeks regarding Last Energy’s proposed small modular reactor nuclear power station in the Llynfi Valley.
The project has been deemed a development of national significance.
While nuclear energy isn’t devolved to Wales, as the output is below 350 MW, the planning decision will be made by the Welsh Government (via Planning & Environment Decisions Wales/PEDW).
Opponents to the project (under the banner of “No Nuclear Llynfi”) are due to hold two meetings next week. This will include a talk by anti-nuclear author Linda Pentz Gunter.
The first meeting will be held at 7:30 pm at Sussed in Porthcawl on Monday 29th June. A second meeting will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday 30th June, at Maesteg Town Hall.
Last Energy will hold four public consultation events during July:
- Coytrahen Community Hub – Monday 13th July (6:00 pm – 9:30 pm)
- Hi Tide, Porthcawl – Tuesday 14th July (6:00 pm – 9:30 pm)
- Maesteg Rugby Club – Wednesday 15h July (6:00 pm – 9:30 pm)
- Bridgend Rugby Club – Thursday 16th July (6:00 pm – 9:30 pm)
