Aldi has submitted full plans for a new store near Brackla Industrial Estate.
The proposals are largely unchanged from those published alongside a pre-application consultation.
The store – accessed directly off the Princess Way/Ffordd Cadfan roundabout – would be about a third smaller than the recently opened store in Porthcawl. It’ll also have 126 parking spaces, with 4 electric vehicle charging stations (which could be expanded to 20 charging spaces in the future).
There were no objections from statutory consultees. There was more opposition amongst those who responded online or as individuals – though these were still about 84% in favour of the store.
Although the proposed store is in what most people consider to be Brackla, it lies within the boundaries of Coity Higher Community Council.
The community council did not object but asked about managing deliveries around school opening times. The site is located adjacent to land reserved for the new Ysgol Bro Ogwr.
Aldi said most deliveries would take place before school opening times (7 am – 7:45 am). Drop bollards would also be installed to prevent unauthorised out-of-hours access to the car park.
