Later this week, Bridgend Council’s Cabinet will be asked to approve a change to the terms and conditions of the council’s Community Asset Transfer fund (pdf).

The change will enable CAT funding to be used on assets that are maintained by the council but are otherwise unable to be transferred to another party. This would be allowed where at least 25% match funding has been obtained from external sources.

The change, if approved, will allow the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) to make a £329,000 investment to refurbish nine tennis courts located at Maesteg Welfare Park, Griffin Park in Porthcawl, Caedu Park in Ogmore Vale and Heol-y-Cyw Playing Fields.

Bridgend Council’s contribution would be just over £191,000 – which, subject to approval, will come out of the Community Asset Transfer fund.
