A full planning application has been submitted for a new social housing development on land near Shepherds Vet Hospital.
A pre-application consultation was held for the “Ridgeway” development – on behalf of Wales & West Housing Association – earlier this year.
The consultation revealed concerns from residents and councillors (pre-election) around traffic problems, possible noise issues, the environmental impact and lack of open space. A business on the Brackla Industrial Estate also raised issues around land ownership.
While the developers are open to discussion on a financial contribution towards play areas, most of the concerns were dismissed or were deemed to have already been dealt with.
As a result, no changes have been made to the proposed development as a result of the consultation.
The proposal would be made up of 12 one-bedroom apartments (in three separate blocks), 34 two-bedroom houses and 16 three-bedroom houses.
The development would continue to be split in two, with 27 houses being built on the lower land immediately next to the Princess Way roundabout and the remaining 12 apartments and 23 houses being built to the rear of Shepherds Vets.
