The public still has a few days left to submit comments to a pre-planning consultation on behalf of Persimmon to build 139 houses at the former Ysgol Bryn Castell in Newcastle, Bridgend.
Part of the site accessed off Cefn Glas Road has already been developed (Pen y Berllan) since the school moved to the former Ogmore Comprehensive in Bryncethin a few years ago. The site was allocated for housing in the Local Development Plan.
The proposal is for the development of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom houses.
The site will be accessed (pdf) via an extended and remodelled Llangewydd Road, which will replace the bend near Newcastle Surgery/St Illtyd’s Road with a traffic-calmed raised T-junction (below).
The transport assessment does, however, recommend an updated traffic survey to measure the possible effect of the development on Park Street, part of which will be subject to air quality controls due to air pollution.
The details are available here and comments have to be in by 13th December 2018 (next Thursday).
