Bridgend Council’s Cabinet will be provided with a further update on Porthcawl’s regeneration plans at their monthly meeting next week (pdf).
Officers expect a bidding process to build a supermarket at the northern end of the Salt Lake site to start this autumn and should be completed by the end of the year. The Cabinet will then make a decision early in 2021.
BCBC still intends to use money from the sale of the land to invest in infrastructure improvements as part of the regeneration scheme, including an upgrade to the Hillsboro Place car park.
The process has already been slow and is currently behind schedule, but there are few changes to the masterplan itself.
Another key bit of business up for discussion is two proposed compulsory purchase orders for several pieces of land at Coney Beach and Sandy Bay (pdf). It’s unclear as of now how much this will cost BCBC and funding will be sought from the annual capital funding programme.
