Cllr. Paul Davies (Lab, Caerau) has announced his resignation as Cabinet Member for Climate Change and the Environment for personal reasons.

“Acting as the Cabinet Member for Climate Change and the Environment has been an honour and a privilege, and I have fully enjoyed the role. However, the time has come to step down so that I can attend to some personal matters, and to let one of my colleagues take on the responsibility.”
– Cllr. Paul Davies

“I would like to thank Paul for his work over the past 18 months. This role requires reliable, sensible oversight, and Paul has made a valued contribution during his time in Cabinet.”

– Council Leader, Cllr. John Spanswick (Lab, Brackla West Central)

While he’s resigning his Cabinet position, he will remain a county councillor.

Cllr. Davies was first appointed to the Cabinet in May 2024, succeeding Cllr. John Spanswick when the latter was appointed Council Leader.

As part of the subsequent mini reshuffle, Cllr. Melanie Evans (Lab, Pencoed & Penprysg) will remain as Cabinet Member for Resources.

Cllr. Eugene Caparros (Lab, Brackla East & Coychurch) – who previously job-shared with Cllr. Evans – moves to the Climate Change and Environment position and will now job-share with Cllr. Gary Haines (Lab, Aberkenfig).
