Bridgend-based Valleys2Coast (V2C) housing association has completed the purchase of a new housing development in Caerau.
The redevelopment of the former Blaenllynfi Infants School – delivered by Cwmbran-based developer, Pendragon Design & Build – was granted planning permission in August 2022.
The development, located off Grosvenor Terrace, has 14 one-bedroom apartments, 4 two-bedroom homes, and 2 four-bedroom homes.
The purchase was part-funded by the Welsh Government’s Social Housing Grant.
“Safe and happy homes are fundamental to our health and wellbeing, and provide foundations for families and communities to thrive, so we’re extremely proud to be providing 56 people with a safe and comfortable home and the opportunity to put down roots in Bridgend.
“These homes have been allocated by Bridgend Council to those most in need of an affordable place to live, including six families. We’ve also ensured that the properties are environmentally friendly, opting for air source pumps to heat them, further supporting our ambition to develop homes fit for the future.”
-James Griffiths, Managing Director, Development & Regeneration (V2C)
Pendragon has also provided just under £8,000, of which just under £6,000 has been ringfenced for a community fund set to be launched by V2C later in 2025.
