Bridgend Council’s Cabinet will discuss the timescale and construction contract for the new single-site Mynydd Cynffig Primary School (pdf).
A planning application has been submitted. The new school will be delivered in stages due to the relocation of the Pwllygath allotments and the need to keep the existing junior school site open.
The original date for completion was September 2025, but this is (obviously) no longer achievable due to the development being – in officers’ own words – “challenging”. The new target is to open the school in September 2027.
Once planning permission is secured, a construction contract will be put out to tender. The total cost of the project is expected to be up to £17.5million.
