Later this week, Bridgend Council will be asked to approve redirecting funding to purchase new grass-cutting equipment ahead of the service returning “in-house” (pdf).
Full council approval is being sought to move £340,000 in capital funding earmarked for the Ravenscourt offices in Bridgend town centre.
The money will form the bulk of a £446,000 budget needed to get the new service up and running – namely buying new equipment. An order for the equipment needs to be placed before 30th September 2024. Works are also required at the council’s Bryncethin depot.
The report states that recruitment for the new service is expected to start before the end of 2024.
