First Cymru – the main bus operator in Bridgend and south-west Wales – has announced several changes to services. The changes are set to come into effect on Sunday 29th October 2023.
“Reductions in government funding for buses mean we’re having to make changes to our services in south and west Wales.
Most services won’t be impacted, but we’re having to reduce bus frequencies and hours of operation on some routes, and we’re having to withdraw some others.”
– First Cymru
Two regional routes serving Bridgend County will be affected by the changes.
- X1 (Swansea – Bridgend) – Will be cut from a half-hourly to an hourly service on Monday-Saturdays. It’ll no longer run on Sundays.
- X3 (Port Talbot – Maesteg) – Will be cut from an hourly service to a 90-minute service on Monday-Saturdays. Again, it’ll no longer run on Sundays.
There are no proposed changes to any of First Cymru’s local routes in Bridgend or the Porthcawl-Cardiff X2 service.
