Later on today, a Bridgend Council scrutiny committee will discuss a report on Care Inspectorate Wales’ inspections of the five adult residential and short-stay care homes in the county (pdf).
The overall conclusion is that standards of care are good, with relationships between residents and staff, food choices, choice of activities and overall satisfaction amongst residents picked out for praise.
Ty Ynysawdre (pictured) got a clear review and doesn’t require any additional action. Meanwhile, Bryn-y-Cae (Brackla), Ty Llwynderw (Maesteg) and Breakaway (short-stay home in Pyle) only had one notice for action each
These notices include recommendation such as ensuring staff receive up-to-date training and that appropriate policies and procedures are in place. All these areas have been addressed or planned for.
Ty Cwm Ogwr stood out by having six areas for additional priority action or improvement, all of which have since been addressed or have plans in place.
