It’s hoped that a brand new cultural venue will revitalise Bridgend town centre and “capture the spirit of the 21st Century”.

The National Museum of Disappointment is being developed in a partnership involving Bridgend Council, the Welsh Government, National Museum Wales, as well as Creative Wales, Uncreative Wales, The All-Wales Banter Council and The Pork Barrel Commission.

Funding will be sought from the UK’s “Levelling Up Fund”. It’s expected the museum will create up to 1 job for the son or daughter of the politically connected.
Launching the project, the swiftly and quietly-appointed Director was moved to tears by the proposed exhibits.
“Ponzi schemes and money laundering have never been more popular. We’ve been softened by decades of Murdoch press cynicism and Kremlin gremlins using big data and disinformation to help win a new Cold War for the Russians.
“This museum represents every time one group of people pulls the drawbridge up to ensure nobody else has the opportunities they had. It’s every time a politician has underpromised and somehow still manages to underdeliver.
“It’s every variation of ‘Live, Laugh, Love’. It’s putting on your best jeans and sheux for the rugby. It’s thinking that snow in January means climate change is a myth.
“It’s stepping in dog eggs. It’s blood on the toilet paper. It’s waking up every morning knowing you’re Nigel Farage.”
A contract to deliver the museum has been awarded to a company on which the Cabinet Member for New Project Announcements serves as director – MUG Developments Bridgend Ltd.
Due to rising material costs, the company says the original budget of £10,000 will need to increase to £3million.
