The Valleys2Coast (V2C) housing association has submitted plans for a new housing development at the former Glan-yr-Afon care home in Ynysawdre.
As mentioned a few months ago, the development forms part of a land swap deal with Bridgend Council to bring forward two new schools in North Cornelly.
The site was allocated for development in the current Local Development Plan, but it envisaged a mix of housing and a new healthcare facility.
The proposed development – which is located directly opposite Coleg y Dderwen – would consist of 35 affordable and social homes at the site. The new homes would consist of 24 one-bedroom apartments, 5 two-bedroom houses, 4 three-bedroom houses and 2 four-bedroom houses.
A geotechnical report says remediation work may be required due to slightly elevated levels of lead and beryllium in soil samples. The report also said asbestos is present and will need careful removal.
