As reported last year (link below), a review has been undertaken into the number and distribution of councillors in Coity Higher Community Council ahead of this year’s local elections.

Parc Derwen growth triggers a review of community council
The final proposals were approved at this week’s full Bridgend Council meeting (pdf).
The council will increase in size from 11 to 13 community councillors.
In a change to the draft proposals, the distribution of councillors will ensure all three wards are as close as possible to each other in terms of councillors-to-electors.
The agreed proposal is that the distribution of councillors be changed to:
- Coity – 6 councillors (594 electors per councillor).
- Litchard – 4 councillors (543 electors per councillor).
- Pendre – 3 members (592 electors per councillor).
The Local Democracy & Boundary Commission for Wales will need to approve the final recommendations before 21st March 2022 for the new arrangements to be in place before the local elections.
At the meeting, the Chief Executive of Bridgend Council, Mark Shephard, confirmed that the council will undertake a full review of all town and community councils sometime after the May elections and before the next scheduled local elections in 2027.
