As of 00:01 tomorrow morning (Friday 10th September 2021) most hospital visits will be suspended by Cwm Taf Morgannwg health board due to rising Covid-19 cases.
Until further notice, the public will only be allowed to visit hospitals in the health board area (which includes Bridgend) for the following reasons:
- To visit patients receiving palliative/end-of-life care (by arrangement-only with palliative care services).
- One birth partner to accompany women before and during labour and immediately following the birth in postnatal areas. Visits to antenatal and postnatal wards won’t be allowed.
- One person can accompany prospective mothers to ultrasound appointments at 12 weeks and 20 weeks (and some scans arranged via the Early Pregnancy Service).
- Paediatric and neonatal areas (by arrangement with clinical staff; one person only).
People attending outpatient appointments are advised to go alone.

“Despite easing of some restrictions in society, we are still very much living in a pandemic, and the numbers of patients ill with COVID and needing hospital care is rising each day.
“Taking this difficult decision to restrict visiting allows us to control the levels of COVID in our hospitals, keeping our patients and staff as safe as possible.
