Bridgend Council has selected five sites across the county for tree planting as part of a “Green Canopy” to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.
The programme is set to take place between October 2021 and March 2022. Events include a “Green Day” where schools and residents will be encouraged to take part and learn about the importance of trees to the environment.
“We are thrilled to be announcing this new project which is helping to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and is also linked to the delivery of our climate emergency response programme.
“A range of events will be held within each community with walks around the sites planned and talks with local residents.”
-Mayor of Bridgend County, Cllr. John Spanswick (Lab, Brackla)
The five sites include land at or near:
- Min-y-Nant, Pencoed
- Coytrahen
- Maes-y-Felin, Wildmill
- Foxfields, Brackla
- Litchard Primary School
The project is being overseen by the community woodland creation group Llais y Goedwig.
