Bridgend Council’s Cabinet is set to agree to a combined £108,000 towards nine separate capital projects being undertaken by town and community councils during 2021-22 (pdf).

Around £65,500 will be straight up capital funding, while a further £42,900 will be made available as part of BCBC’s Community Asset Transfer programme.

Projects being funded by BCBC capital grants include:

  • Bridgend Town Council (x2) – New groundworks/adaptations (£15,000) and new flooring (£5,500) at the new Bridgend Town Hall (formerly Ty Ardd)
  • Cefn Cribwr Community Council – Resurfacing of a footpath near the War Memorial (£15,015)
  • Coity Higher Community Council – Refurbishment of Heol Mair playground in Litchard (£15,003)
  • Coychurch Lower Community Council – Refurbishment of playgrounds (£14,911)

The projects being funded as part of the Community Asset Transfer programme include:

  • Brackla Community Council – Repairs to Brackla Community Centre (£25,675)
  • Cornelly Community Council (x2) – Improvements to North Cornelly Community Centre (£7,225) and improvements to North Cornelly Playing Fields (£5,000)
  • Llangynwyd Middle Community Council – Drainage improvements at Llangynwyd Playing Fields (£5,000)

The money only partially covers the cost of the shortlisted projects – which is around £229,000. The rest of the funding will come from the community councils themselves.
