A new planning application has been submitted for housing at Briary wood in Brackla.
The proposal is significantly down-scaled from previous applications, with only two homes proposed as an extension of the pre-existing drive.
Previous applications have been refused on the grounds of negatively impacting a historic woodland and threatening a loss of biodiversity. The applicant and agents have argued that there is little evidence of protected wildlife in the wood and there are no “high quality” trees within the woodland itself.
However, this time around, the applicant has put forward a woodland management plan which is argued would improve biodiversity whilst allowing the development to go ahead. A “buffer strip” would be created between the new houses and the remainder of the woodland.
Comments on the application need to be submitted by February 15th 2021.
