Officers have recommended that Bridgend Council approves the Community Asset Transfer of the Cae Gof playing fields to Cefn Cribwr Athletic Club (CCAC).
The report (pdf) says that CCAC intends to take control of the bowls pavilion and bowls green as well as two rugby pitches. Cefn Cribwr FC has expressed interest in a separate lease of the football pitches and main pavilion.
BCBC intend to ensure the playing fields and car parks can continue to be used by the public for general use. The lease would last 35-years.
CCAC submitted a business case which would include upgrading and extending the bowls pavilion (to include rugby facilities) and upgrades to the rugby pitches. CCAC requested just under £160,000 in total from the council’s £1million Community Asset Transfer fund as well as funding related to the change of management.
Bridgend Council estimates the transfer will save the council just over £24,700 a year in field maintenance costs.
