A planning application has been submitted to demolish a former nightclub on Market Street to provide additional pay and display parking spaces in the heart of Bridgend town centre.

Subject to planning permission, HD Ltd’s plans would see the vacant building – which has previously been a nightclub, pub (Tom’s Bar) and a strip club – make way for a widened access to parking spaces at the rear of the building.

The planning statement says (link): “The existing building is in an extremely poor state of repair, is becoming a safety issue, and is effectively not fit for purpose and has been subject to antisocial issues affecting the town centre.”

34 pay and display spaces would be provided – an increase on the current 27 permit-only spaces.
