Taylor Wimpey has submitted a planning application to Bridgend Council for a 74-home development at the former St John’s School in Newton. Conservation area consent has also been sought.
St John’s merged with the adjacent St Clare’s School to create a single independent school in September 2014.
The proposed development will consist of 39 three-bedroom houses, 23 four-bedroom houses and 12 one-bedroom apartments. The apartments and one of the four-bedroom houses will be “affordable”.
The main access will be off Birch Walk on the Danygraig side of the former school, with a foot and cycle path linking the new development to Church Street. Four houses will be directly accessed via a small private drive off towards the Bryneglwys Avenue end.
