One key element of the Welsh Government’s Valley Action Plan is the creation of a Valleys Regional Park. The goal of the project is, in the words of a report to BCBC’s Cabinet (pdf), to create a “highly visible network of uplands, woodlands, nature reserves and country parks”.
Parc Slip Nature Reserve and Bryngarw Park are two of nine “gateway sites” which will act as showpieces for the park.
A core Valleys Regional Park team from the Welsh Government is set to be hosted by Bridgend for the first phase of the project which lasts until March 2021. The Welsh Government will provide just under £900,000 across the next two financial years and no match-funding is required by BCBC.
