As some of you might remember, a few weeks ago it was reported that Park Street in Bridgend was “the most polluted street in the county” after exceeding nitrogen dioxide limits.
As a result of that, BCBC was obliged to establish an Air Quality Management Area (AQMA). The order (pdf) has now been drafted and the boundary of the AQMA is below:
Subject to BCBC Cabinet approval, a consultation exercise with affected residents will take place and the AQMA is set to come into effect on 1st January 2019.
BCBC will then have 18 months to come up with a draft action plan which will include any measures they intend to take to improve air quality within the AQMA.
