Bridgend Council seeks views on next stage of draft walking & cycling plans

Following the conclusion of a recent consultation on the future of walking and cycling routes in Bridgend county, a public consultation on the second phase has opened.

The first phase – which was to inform the council where improvements can/should be made – reportedly garnered more than 3,000 responses.

Using that information, the council has produced a draft map of potential walking and cycling routes alongside existing routes.

Existing routes are shown as solid lines, proposed routes and improvements are shown as dashed lines.

This second public consultation is asking for views on these proposed routes. It’s open until 4th April 2021 and again uses a map and comment system – available here.

The council don’t want people to repeat comments made during the first consultation and are instead asking for opinions on the proposals as they’ve been drafted.

Would these proposed routes be useful? Do these routes need to be altered? Are there any particular concerns about where they do or don’t go? That kind of thing.

Once the second phase closes, a final active travel plan will be submitted to the Welsh Government for approval by autumn 2021.
