Bridgend-based housing association, Valleys2Coast, has submitted its full planning application to convert Wyndham House in Bridgend town centre into its new headquarters.
Compared to the original vision, the final planning application is scaled back somewhat. It will be a pure office development confined to the first through third floors.
The ground floor – which includes Bridgend Post Office and existing retail and office tenants – will be unchanged as things stand.
The original announcement in summer 2025 included early plans for a cafe-like reception on the ground floor, remodelled retail units and up to 8 apartments. However, these have not been included (or have been postponed to a later stage).
Proposals to improve the building’s appearance do, however, remain. The brickwork exterior on the first to third floors would be painted in a mix of colours (above), while some of the cladding will be replaced with metal.
Town Council seeks to include new public toilets in redevelopment
Bridgend Town Council has held discussions with V2C with a view to including a gated walk-through (connecting Market Street and Wyndham Street) and new public toilets.
Minutes from the Town Council’s November meeting (pdf – Item 13) state that V2C is willing to enter into a partnership to provide toilets. A gated walk-through (which would run through a current retail unit) would be open from 8 am to 11 pm.
The town council discussed the costs of the project at their December meeting (held on 8th December).
A reliable source has informed me that the Town Council has decided to continue discussions with V2C, as arrangements for maintenance and funding (the toilets are likely to be pay-to-use) continue to be developed.
