Coychurch Crematorium’s joint committee is set to approve a fee scheme for direct cremations for 2022-23 (pdf).
Direct cremations – where a body is cremated privately without a funeral service – have become gradually more popular due to rising funeral costs (as well as personal preference).
Direct cremation is already offered at several crematoria in the region including Morriston, Margam and Thornhill.
The report says, “The introduction of a low-cost direct cremation fee at Coychurch Crematorium would provide more choice” and this fee would be set at £550 (including the cremation certificate).
The usual cremation-with-service fee is set to increase to £745.70 (+£38.20) in line with the consumer price index/inflation.
Coychurch Crematorium is also set to introduce a wider range of custom audio visual options during funeral services.
The new options include (amongst other things) a digital still image (£20), a digital photograph slideshow (£75 for the first 25 images; an additional £25 for every additional 25 images) and a digital family video (£50).
