This week, Bridgend Council is finalising and set to approve its budget for the coming financial year.

Here’s a list of the cuts and savings (pdf).

Education & Family Support (-£68,000)

  • Cuts to council subsidies for adult learners (-£68,000).

 Social Services & Wellbeing (-£365,000)

  • Savings arising from a shift in emphasis within social services towards independent living (-£200,000).
  • Remodelling day services for the elderly and disabled (-£115,000).
  • Remodelling supported living services (-£50,000).

Communities (-£150,000)

  • Potential income from letting a wing of Ravens Court in Bridgend to a partner organisation or business (-£50,000).
  • Change the home food waste bag as the current ones cause issues with biodegradation (-£35,000).
  • End a contract with a tourism promotion and PR agency, AMA Associates (-£25,000).
  • Cut to the strategic regeneration fund (-£20,000).
  • Taking the running of business and enterprise centres in-house (-£20,000).

Administration, Chief Executive & Council-wide (-£48,000)

  • General efficiency savings target (-£48,000).
