Officers have recommended that Bridgend Council approves a contract extension for two bus routes (pdf).
The two routes are:
- 65 – Bridgend to Talbot Green (via Heol-y-Cyw).
- 70 – Bridgend to Cymmer (via Maesteg).
Both services are currently operated by First Cymru and funding comes from the Welsh Government’s Bus Service Support Grant. The routes are considered regionally important as they serve more than one local authority.
The value of the existing contract (worth £2.3million) has been increased by just over £187,000 to cover the loss in passenger income arising from pandemic-related restrictions as well as additional costs such as cleaning.
Subject to Cabinet approval, the contracts for both routes will be extended for one year until 31st October 2022.
