The final consultation on future plans for walking and cycling facilities in Bridgend county opened last week.

In the previous two stages, Bridgend Council asked for residents’ views on where improvements can be made and a draft map of potential new walking and cycling routes.

This final consultation seeks views on the final version of the active travel map before it’s submitted to the Welsh Government for approval.

“We hope that residents living in Bridgend county borough continue to share their thoughts on the walking and cycling provision in the area so that the council can continue efforts to develop the wider active travel network and offer people an attractive alternative to driving and to keep fit and healthy.”
– Cabinet Member for Communities, Cllr. Stuart Baldwin (Lab, Morfa)

According to Bridgend Council, an additional 176km of potential routes were added to the map as a result of the consultations.

You can leave comments on active travel plans for nine communities: Bettws, Bridgend, Evanstown (though it’s listed as Gilfach Goch), Maesteg, Ogmore Vale, Pencoed, Pontycymer, Porthcawl and Pyle.

The consultation is open for 12 weeks (until roughly 24th November 2021). A link to the consultation is available here.
