Up for discussion at next week’s Bridgend Council Cabinet meeting is a proposal to reintroduce a tourist road train in Porthcawl (pdf).
The proposal would form part of efforts to boost the tourist offer in Porthcawl (pandemic recovery dependent) and complement the new Rest Bay watersports centre, Porthcawl harbour and link the beaches.
A tourist road train did operate in Porthcawl until 2008. If reintroduced, Bridgend Council officers envisage it running from Coney Beach/Sandy Bay to Rest Bay during the peak holiday season (March-September).
There would, seemingly, be an open bidding process to run the service. About £12,000 would be made available from existing tourism funds.
