In what may be a good sign of progress on finalising Welsh Government & legacy EU (WEFO) funding, Bridgend Council has submitted plans for their alternative project at Cosy Corner in Porthcawl.
As you already know, a maritime centre was due to be built there but fell through forcing BCBC to come up with a more modest, deliverable alternative.
The plans include a new building and public open space.
“The objective of the new development is to provide an outstanding, landmark, sustainable building that responds to the local environment and enhances the experience of the visiting public and user groups, whilst reflecting the character of the maritime site and the surrounding coastal environment.”

The proposed building would have five retail units, a community hall, harbourmaster offices and public toilets (including a changing places facility. The council say that the natural stone building will have a modern appearance including a zinc roof and large glazed areas.
The open space will include a fabric canopy, a playground, harbourmaster storage, and a combination of a resin pathway and outdoor space with soft landscaped areas.
