Business rate relief for the hospitality, leisure and retail sectors – introduced largely due to the pandemic – is set to be extended for another year (pdf).
The Welsh Government has announced an extension to the rate relief scheme until 31st March 2023.
Under the scheme, businesses in the hospitality, leisure and retail sectors can claim up to a 50% discount on business rates, capped at £110,000 across all premises occupied by the same business.
The full list of eligible businesses is available in the report’s appendix, but the council estimates this will apply to 845 businesses in the county.
The scheme is being financed by the Welsh Government but is administered by the council.
