As you may have already heard, the Welsh Government has agreed in principle to a funding package worth just under £2.7million to repair homes in Caerau damaged as a result of the home insulation scandal.
In a letter to Huw Irranca-Davies MS (Lab, Ogmore) published earlier this week, the Minister for Climate Change, Julie James (Lab, Swansea West) confirmed that funding would be made available across two years.

As the letter says, a final decision is dependent on Bridgend Council producing a detailed business plan and timetable setting out how and when the repair work will be carried out. The Minister expects this plan to be submitted no later than 28th February 2022. This is likely to be a formality as you would assume the council will have already done most of the detailed work given how long they’ve had to prepare it.
It’s not quite in the bag yet and I assume more details will be provided to Bridgend Council’s Cabinet and residents in the coming weeks. But it’s undoubtedly good news for affected householders who’ve been waiting the best part of a decade for damage to their homes to be addressed.
